The Harris Center for Mental Health & IDD is looking for an experienced Buyer to join our team

About the Position

The Buyer at The Harris Center will be responsible for ensuring compliance with established departmental and The Harris Center approved policies and procedures within the Central Purchasing Department. You will perform extensive research and demonstrate the ability to negotiate with suppliers, manage inventory, evaluate quality goods, and monitor budget. The Buyer will also analyze requisitions for goods and services as well as ensure completeness of specifications and supporting documentation, in addition to advising and supporting requisitioning units through both informal and formal solicitation processes.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Professional Certification from a Purchasing Organization, such as ISM, NIGP, or State of Texas
  • 2 years of experience in a centralized procurement environment and public purchasing
  • Experience with the creation and manipulation of large spreadsheets, preferred
